RISE26: Four Days of Education and Inspiration

From July 20-23, more than 7,000 public safety and public health professionals came together in Nashville for RISE26, the nation's premier training conference on justice innovation.

Over four days, thousands of professionals representing every stage of the justice system gathered alongside behavioral health providers, recovery leaders, veterans' advocates, researchers, and treatment court alumni. Together, they shared ideas, challenged one another to grow, and reaffirmed a shared commitment to improving lives through evidence-based practices.

Through dynamic general session presentations by keynote speakers Ken Osborne, Doug Marlowe, and Mike Holley, attendees received major takeaways on our shared mission and purpose, what an evidence-based justice system looks like, and the exciting redesign of the ARK tool to match the right response to the right person at the right time.

U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins delivered remarks to open our fourth general session. He also took the time to meet personally with Veterans Justice Outreach and Veterans Affairs Peer Specialists in attendance to thank them for their critical work serving justice-involved veterans through treatment courts and other programs.

This year's general sessions also demonstrated that behind every successful program is a community of people willing to support one another. Through stories of resilience, recovery, and perseverance from alumni Deena Davis, Carlos Diaz, and Carlos Gonzales, attendees were reminded that meaningful change happens when people come together and that no one recovers, or does this work, alone.

Some of the most meaningful moments happened outside the classroom. Conversation continued in hallways, in the exhibit hall, between sessions, and over coffee as old friends reconnected and new relationships were formed. Those moments of connection are what make RISE unlike any other conference.
