Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
IAD is located approximately 35 miles (60 minutes) from the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. One-way taxi fare will cost about $80.
Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI)
BWI is located approximately 42 miles (60 minutes) from the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. One-way taxi fare will cost about $90.
The Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center is 15 minutes south of Washington, DC – just off the Capital Beltway (I-95/I-495) – making it an easy drive from DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
The Potomac Riverboat Company Water Taxi is a great way to get around and take in the sights. There are several options for using the water taxi.
Miss Sophie: This boat goes from National Harbor (145 National Plaza – near the carousel) to the National Mall (4592 Ohio Drive SW, Washington, D.C. – about a 10-minute walk from the Lincoln Memorial) by way of the Alexandria City Marina (0 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA – located behind the Torpedo Factory Art Center). Roundtrip tickets are $28/adult.
Wharf Water Taxi: This boat departs from National Harbor and stops at The Wharf (950 Wharf Street SW, Washington, D.C.), approximately a 15-minute walk from the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. Roundtrip tickets are $18/adult.
Alexandria – National Harbor: This boat departs from the Alexandria City Marina and stops at both the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center (201 Waterfront Street) and National Harbor. Roundtrip tickets are $17/adult.
Alexandria – Georgetown: This narrated sightseeing cruise goes from the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center/National Harbor (with a stop in Alexandria) and provides views of numerous D.C. monuments, the Kennedy Center and more. Roundtrip tickets start at $32/adult.
The Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority offers both bus and train service to a variety of locations in Virginia, D.C. and Maryland.
The WMATA (Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority) NH2 bus has stops at St. George Boulevard and Waterfront Street (just a 2-minute walk from the Gaylord). It includes stops at:
- Oxon Hill Rd & Harborview Avenue (a 5-minute walk to the Tanger Outlets)
- Oxon Hill Rd & Tanger Blvd (a 5-minute walk to the MGM Resort)
- Southern Avenue metro station (a quick way to get into DC)
If you are interested in going into Washington, DC, you can take the Southern Avenue metro (green line) toward Greenbelt or Mount Vernon Square.
- Get off the metro at the L’Enfant metro station (5 stops). The ride from Southern Avenue to L’Enfant is approximately $2.45.
- The museums and National Mall are a 5-minute walk from the metro station.
- The metro requires a metro card to ride (available for purchase at all metro stations for $2; you can buy a card for $10 that will contain an $8 credit [$2 card purchase]).
